Brian Dumbleton

Staff Product Designer

Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Product designer with 8+ years in developer tools, security, and identity. I set multi-year design direction with stakeholders and research, then build the systems and prototypes a team needs to ship against it. At Render I own design for the networking and platform scaling surfaces. At Auth0 I was design lead for security products tied to $20M+ in ARR growth and retention, and helped scale the design organization through hiring, onboarding, and mentorship.

Experience

Render

2025Present

Senior Product Designer

  • Established a code-native, agent-assisted prototyping workflow so designers and product managers can deploy frontend experiments directly on Render.
  • Reduced the time to connect with external infrastructure from a multi-day manual support process to self-serve, doubling adoption in three months to carry roughly 30% of inbound platform traffic at a fifth the cost of public egress.
  • Expanded bandwidth observability to support new traffic types, exposing roughly 60% of outbound traffic the platform had never shown users, which let us reprice network bandwidth and significantly improve networking margins.

20242025

Staff Product Designer

  • Design lead for the Customer Identity Cloud security platform, setting multi-year direction with stakeholders through user research, competitive analysis, and security domain expertise.
  • Scaled the security design function without a formal reporting line: ran hiring loops, onboarded senior designers and interns, and owned project planning across the group.
  • Mentored senior ICs and rebuilt onboarding materials, shortening the ramp for designers new to identity and security.

20212024

Senior Product Designer

  • Led and shipped designs that expanded the security product portfolio, contributing to $5M+ ARR growth over three years.
  • Designed the launch experience for passkey authentication, which influenced $15M+ ARR in retention deals and exceeded its adoption target by 361% in the first quarter after release.
  • Pitched and shipped a new security observability platform to meet enterprise demand, creating the foundation for new capabilities and upgrade paths across the security portfolio.
  • Drove design system operations to 100% design and code parity for web components, reached full documentation coverage within a year, and introduced a hybrid contribution model for new components and patterns.

McAfee

20192021

Product Designer

  • Established the Pegasus Design System with a cross-functional team of five, and defined the visual identity for McAfee Personal Protection, the flagship consumer security product.
  • Owned the end-to-end service diagram for the Personal Protection user journey, and built training material that raised throughput for the design and research functions.
